Energy
We have funded the Winter Energy Payment, an initiative to help Kiwi’s pay for energy bills through this harsh winter. This will provide an additional $20.46 per week for singles with no dependent children, and $31.82 for couples and New Zealander’s with dependent children. |
Transport
Pine supported the ½ price discount on public transport fares between the 1st of April, 2022, and 31st of January, 2023. This initiative will promote the use of public transport and decrease Aotearoa New Zealand’s carbon emissions that are contributing to climate change. As well as this, we worked on the bill for a temporary 25c per litre reduction in fuel taxes following the global spike, and the reduction of road user charges. |
Agriculture
A bill was passed proposed by Pine, involving the funding of research into land sampling and the dedicating of a proportion of land to farming, as well as the subsidisation of the plant-based products produced on this farmland. An increase in farmland would also decrease Aotearoa New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions. |
Social Development
Pine has provided support to many initiatives to develop Aotearoa New Zealand socially. This includes giving close to 100,000 free trades training and apprenticeships to Kiwi’s, and improving access to testing and training for driver’s licenses to open up job opportunities for 75,000 Kiwi’s. We have also backed the best start payment of $65 per week, for tens of thousands of new parents. |
Health and Education
Pine takes the health and growth of all New Zealander’s very seriously. We have been behind the decrease in fees to visit the doctors and health services, the scrapping of NCEA fees, increased funding and free healthy lunches and period products in schools, in order to support our growing Kiwi’s. |
Ocean and Fisheries
Overfishing is a huge issue across Aotearoa New Zealand. Pine supported the 15% reduction of commercial catch limits for blue warehou in Taranaki, Wellington, East Cape and Hawke’s Bay, and blue cod across the West Coat and top of the South Island, to allow fish stocks to recover and be available to Kiwi’s for generations to come. |
Finance
We firmly believe New Zealander’s should receive fair pay for their work. We worked on the bill to boost minimum wage to $22 per hour. As well as this, we supported the income insurance scheme to help Kiwi’s bounce back from job losses, and families package that boosted the household income of thousands. Pine has also backed the investment into infrastructure, rail workshops and nature jobs that will create employment opportunities. |
Foreign Affairs
Pine understands connecting with the world is a way to broaden the boundaries for all New Zealanders, and trade is a critical aspect of Aotearoa New Zealand’s economy. Due to this reason, we backed the Trade for All initiative to address global and regional issues including environmental problems and labour standards. We’ve all supported innovations from entrepreneurs, and made it legally easier for them to access global capital, expertise and ideas. |
