Pine Party Energy Plan
The pine policy understands how important energy is in this ever-growing world and economies which demand more and more energy. This is why affordable and clean energy is one of the Pine Party’s main policies. The Government has been burning fossil fuels for centuries to provide energy for this country. However burning fossil fuels has led to many climate
The Pine Party Energy plan is the first of it's kind in New Zealand and aims to provide cost & energy efficient means to the general population of New Zealand. With inflation and cost of living ever increasing we want to provide a stable, sustainable and cheap means of energy production and consumption in this country.
Here is what we will do to create a progressive and future-proof energy grid in New Zealand:
1. Investment into New Zealand Energy
2. Energy Law Changes
3. Building a New Zealand-wide Smart Grid

- The Pine Party will make big investments into New Zealand's energy sector aiming to be 100% renewable by 2030 (S&P Global, 2022)
- Living up to the Clean & Green title we give ourselves (Florian, 2016).
- Would be the 8th country globally to be 100% renewable (Te Mana Hiko, 2022).
2. Energy Law Changes
- The Pine Party will introduce new binding electrical standards which will be implemented into the Residential Tenancies (healthy homes standards) Regulations 2019 (New Zealand Legislation, 2019).
- The laws would also include retro-fitting old and not power efficient appliances like lightbulbs with sustainable and power-efficient versions.
- The new appliances and standards will be subsidised through our Pine Party Energy Plan Fund to encourage an uptake in enery efficient appliances throughout the country.
3. Building a New Zealand-wide Smart Grid
- Smart grids provides a way to monitor how energy is delivered and consumed within New Zealand, ensuring all energy produced in this country is cost and energy efficient (US Department of Energy, 2022).
- A smart grid would also provide reliable real time data around energy in the country and connect houses (US Department of Energy, 2022).
- With a Smart grid we can control the power flow and change energy flows in real time, providing energy to those who need it the most- this would provide reliable and cheap energy while also providing transparency about how much energy you are using and where it comes from.
